Taking the fall for an era

The Monday column about WVXU-FM reminds me that Saturday night I was listening, as I often do, to their marathon program "The Big Broadcast."
Just before air time for the Humphrey Bogart-Lauren Bacall syndicated mystery "Bold Venture," they needed to fill a few minutes, so they put on a snippet of a big-band remote featuring Woody Herman from the Café Rouge in New York. There was no time frame, but the singer was Frances Wayne, so it must have been from the late 1940s.
